Review: War of the Worlds Steven Spielberg is the third film in which aliens visited Earth, but the first in which they are malicious intent. It can not be a coincidence that the arrival of the aliens have been announced with flashing lights lowered my scary clouds, which in ce3k. From there the similarity ends - no light show as friendly aliens come to take a closer look. These creatures (perhaps Mars, as on the original HG Wells novel) arent interested fine, there is no ambiguity about their final destination (as it was too much ce3k). Theyre here to remove us from the face of the planet, plain and simple, we understand the point of the movie has been playing for even half an hour, and rambling is a cruel giant stands used efficiently. It was also the film - (? Whats up with the video camera, anyway) to scare the crap out of us, despite some gaping plot holes and some scenes were too reminiscent of other films (especially on Independence Day and Spielberg's own Jurassic Park). It was Spielberg uses the offending image with 9/11, the Holocaust, and possibly the siege London in World War II was, for me, the exploitation of less than a reflection of how seriously he intends the audience to take a screen clutter. The atmosphere is heavy with the threat, and the depiction population numb with shock in the middle of destruction is assured scary, even when Hollywood cheese. We do not have Will Smith gave a sharp one-liners directly after millions were slaughtered by invading foreign troops, ala ID4. There is also not much rah-rah, lets-kick-some-alien-ass mood when they were outmatched trying to fight the world's population. Even the real protagonist (a low-key, efficient Tom Cruise) crumples at one point during the big whats happening.Im not really sure what the poster who complained about inadequate action on your mass rder and FX talking about. I think the tripod is pretty much a constant presence (though not always in the foreground) of approximately 15 min mark onwards. And the fact is that the war is being fought in the title from the beginning - not only at the level of human vs alien battle that some viewers seem to wait.
