Review: Why do I want to write 234 remarks on Shawshank Redemption? I am not sure - almost everything he could say about it has been said. But like so many others who wrote comments, I was and I am deeply moved by the simple and eloquent description of hope and friendship and redemption. The only other film I've seen affect me the strength To Kill a Mockingbird. Both films leave me feeling cleaner've watched them.I do not intend to see this movie at all: I do not like prison movies, and I do not usually watch them. I work in a branch library, and one day I was checking Shawshank Redemption note that one of our sponsors over, he said to me, when é b feeling down or depressed, I look at the This video and watch it and it always makes me feel better. At the time I thought that was very strange. One day, there was nothing on TV except that I absolutely would not watch under any circumstances or things I have seen too many times now; meal. I remember what he said it, so I watched. I've watched a lot of times since then, and it gets better with every action showing. No no stok effect - men in prison uniforms talking to each other. The only Shawshank Redemption and To Kill a Mockingbird the best films I've seen. I do not judge it by the technical merits - I do not care about it. I have read the Citizen Kane or The Godfather, or this or that film is the best film ever. They may have the best technology or the most influential motion pictures ever made, but not the best. The best films are those that touch the soul. It takes a film like The Shawshank Redemption to touch the soul.
