Review: I am convinced that a good movie must have its basis in historical reality, even though we all know Hollywood has a tendency to exaggerate and simple, make things up a lot. But this movie needs completely ignored it and went to the invention, with reference to the story. I suppose counting on ignorance of the average movie watcher western world about the civil war in the former Yugoslavia. But the reception of the film by audiences around the world, and its success shows that the film does not even feel that ignorance. Surely, just terrible effort from Travolta to speak Serbian language or action for that matter, as well as the terrible consistent effort to correct spelling sign shop in Belgrade, all of which also contribute to the effect of the film makes. From beginning of the film, we got almost subliminal messages and some are not so much subconscious as part of the written history presented introductory lesson early. Heroic U.S. military forces and their NATO allies free (not expecting much) skinny people from something that looks like a concentration camp. They also discover the rotting corpses in wagons. The references to Nazism and WWII genocide of the Jewish clear. However that NATO military never intervened in Bosnia through the use of ground forces, and that they never freed anyone from a single concentration camps, railway wagons or discovered any dead bodies. Also, the fact that the Serb troops never invaded neighboring Bosnia in 1992 when the army only subsistence Yugoslav Army (Serb army does not exist). The Yugoslav Army from 1945 seats in their military barracks place all over Yugoslavia, of which Bosnia was a part of. Also, the leaves become somewhat difficult for Serbs living in Bosnia, which constitute over 40% of the population in 1992 to invade neighboring Bosnia with their forces as a means to entrench themselves. Figure victims of war were grossly enlarged too. Independent research conducted by prominent international NGOs put the number of victims of the civil war in Bosnia, about 100 000 people in total. The figures include losses belonging to all three major ethnic groups in Bosnia: Bosnian Muslims, Serbs and Croats. Thus, there was never 200 000 injured in the Bosnian war, and there is certainly no 200 000 people died in the genocide. The purpose behind making such factual mistakes in the beginning of the film, especially because it is easier to analyze escapes me.Historical truth is one thing, and this movie is another matter, and the two do not have much in common. And I think it has been felt throughout the film, even those who do not know much about the history of Yugoslavia break-up. However, if you completely ignore the historical background, you may be able to at least go through the film. Especially if you only focus on the conflict between two guys, and try to forget the reason for it, although it can be difficult as its supposed to be the backbone of the whole story. But do not focus. Just do not waste your time on this film.
